23Things#10

We have found using a wiki a helpful way to collaborate on reference questions.

This is our post for Thing 9 We did it as a shared document and posted it to our blog.

Thing#9.

We shared it with a colleague. We will post the finished product on our blogs.

I think I will add something visual:)

We are actually editing it at the same time. I want to see how Google handles drafts.

Sharepoint does something similar. But in a much more convoluted manner.

Maybe something sunny would be more appropriate? (NRF) True What do you think?
I think this is really awesome. Almost too good to be true. Does it make it available for all the world to Google. This would be great for our public terminals that do not have word on them. I could also see it as a boon for conferences where you have to collaborate on a document - say for a committee meeting later that day - and you only have access to public terminals. YEA (It would work great for us to collaborate on instruction, or whatever, too.)

We use Zoho for another project and I did not know there was a document piece. I will explore that at a later date.

I don't know. (LOR) I was not familiar with either Google.docs or zoho

23Things#8

I realized that I don't have any photos or presentations that anyone else would be interested in. Maybe I am wrong. What do you think? Is all of this social networking really self-promotion? Celebrity of the Mundane? Who really cares about what I care about?

I have gained a lot of information using the web conferencing tools of MINITEX, and EBSCO. It is a great way to participate in a workshop without leaving the building. I agree that one of the downfalls is being distracted at your own desk. This has possible implications for library instruction or tutorials in multiple locations.

I don't have the text messaging option on my phone, so that elimates me from this technology. I realize that in order to communicate with my own teenages this is the perferred method. I am very unsure about this as a reference tool but I would like to try the IM'ing.

Thing#6
This is too big! I need to find a way to look smaller. The Carleton librarians did a great job!
